Stage 4: If the matter cannot be resolved a decision will be made by the Principal or Vice-Principal
that is in the best interests of students of Birmingham College.
If the abusive student is a sponsored student, the College will inform their sponsor.
PREVENT POLICY FOR STUDENTS
There is an ongoing threat of terrorism throughout the UK
People in Britain are being recruited by terrorist groups
The government thinks local services could do more to identify and safeguard those at risk
The government is making the prevention of terrorism a legal duty for all public bodies,
including all education providers
Birmingham College is subject to inspection by The Department for Business, Innovation &
Skills (BIS). An unsatisfactory inspection report on an organisation’s Prevent policies and
implementation can lead to the College closing.
Student Responsibility:
As a student you play a crucial role in helping the community to recognise any vulnerable
students who might be drawn to extremism.
If you suspect or think that any of your friends or students may have very strong political views or
are often vocal towards any acts against humanity or support groups like ISIS you should tell a
member of staff.
Reporting concerns and Safeguarding
You can report any suspicious behaviour to any member of staff or local people.
